Do you believe in scary stories? MOMO.EXE follows the urban legend about a haunted WhatsApp number that will send you disturbing pictures when you text it. In this game, you will find yourself exchanging messages with someone named Momo, who will give you instructions that you need to follow. If you refuse to do what she says, who knows what will happen? Definitely not something good.

How well can you follow instructions?

MOMO.EXE is a simple horror game with easy mechanics. As mentioned, it is about an urban legend about a girl named Momo, the owner of the haunted WhatsApp number. To give you an idea of what she looks like Momo is said to be a girl with long, black, and frizzy hair, bulging eyes, and a very creepy smile that will haunt you in your sleep. Apparently, Momo is also pretty scary when her instructions are not properly executed and this is what the game is all about. In, MOMO.EXE, you will find yourself texting the cursed number out of boredom and that will be a huge mistake. When exchanging messages with Momo, you will get to choose what answer to give from the options provided by the game. Your responses, however, will not have a direct and fatal impact to the game’s flow. It will simply continue on with its fixed course so there is no need to worry about sending the wrong response. Still, having the freedom to choose your answers adds a bit of fun and freedom to the game. When it comes to the horror part, her messages are quite creepy and will be accompanied by disturbing images of her from time to time. After asking her to play, she will demand that you adhere to her instructions. The fear of not knowing what could possibly happen if you refuse to do what she says or simply fail to deliver will be a driving force for players to try their best to complete the mission. 

Disturbing and creepy

Her messages alone are not the only things that will creep you out in this game. Momo’s appearance is downright scary and she is something you would not want to appear in your dreams or see in real life, ever. The house where you are at also evokes an eerie vibe that makes you think there are eyes watching you and that you are being followed. Momo can also be anywhere, simply hiding in the darkest corners of the house and ready to strike if you make one wrong move. The background music also adds to building up and fortifying the fear. Realistic sounds like sudden phone vibrations can make you feel terrified and anxious.

Simply scary

MOMO.EXE is a really well-made indie game. The tasks are easy to accomplish and can be completed in a matter of minutes. Even so, it does not make the game any less frightening. Do not be surprised if you end up dreaming about Momo’s face at night.
